COCPIT Project – Meeting (M24)

Twenty-four months after its launch, the COCPIT project team gathered in Saint-Nazaire, France, for a productive and inspiring project meeting.

The event was hosted by our colleagues Mariana Titica, Thibault Combroux, and Emmanuel Dechandol from the University of Nantes, who also organized a wonderful technical visit to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, one of Europe’s most important shipbuilding sites.

The visit offered a unique opportunity to witness the impressive construction process of a cruise ship, starting with the basic steel plates. It was an experience that allowed us to connect our work on sustainable fuels to the broader landscape of decarbonizing the transport sectors at scale.

During the project meeting, we discussed the research progress achieved so far and defined the next strategic steps to advance COCPIT’s mission:

Strengthen the SAF value chain through innovative solutions at all levels, from raw materials to fuel production and end-use;

Develop a robust decision-support tool to help stakeholders adopt a “test-before-invest” approach, reducing risks and supporting smart investments in the SAF sector.

Led by our colleague Jordan Prieto from AlgoSolis, we also had the opportunity to visit the AlgoSolis R&D Facility, an academic platform committed to developing a sustainable microalgae industry.
