During the first phase of the COCPIT project, communication and dissemination activities included participation in three major international events: the WasteEng 2024, the RD20 Conference and the MATSUS Conference. Thanks to the active involvement of two consortium members, Sary Awad, coordinator of the project from IMT Atlantique, Swanand Bhatwadekar Ph.D. at AAlborg University and David Burrueco Subirà, R&D Researcher in Photovoltaic Energy Technologies from LEITAT, COCPIT was among the initiatives that contributed to the discussions of these important events.
Thanks to our project partner, Aalborg University, we had the opportunity to participate in the international conference held in Sendai, Japan, dedicated to research and innovation in waste and biomass valorization towards a sustainable transition.
During the event, Swanand Bhatwadekar gave a presentation entitled “From waste to drop-in fuels via hydrothermal liquefaction: results and challenges“. With his contribution, he introduced the COCPIT project and illustrated how it will contribute to address some of the main open challenges in the field of hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL).

The RD20 Conference is a high-level international platform that brings together leading research institutions from G20 countries and regions. Its aim is to foster international collaboration in the development of cutting-edge technologies aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.

The MATSUS Conference provides a multidisciplinary space combining basic research and applied science, focusing on key areas of sustainable development. David’s contribution at the conference focuses on material selection for ST-PV coupling with the PBR. In the project LEITAT deals with STPV performance by finding the best balance between electricity generation, algae protection from infrared radiation, and the transparency needed for algae production.
In addition to national and international conferences, the COCPIT project, thanks to the project coordinator, also took part in the event organized by CINEA in October 2024 on the topics of aviation, maritime fuels and biomethane, which saw numerous participants from various European projects. The cluster meeting was the opportunity to present our research and get in touch with other similar initiatives, with the aim of creating synergies that can also be useful for the dissemination and communication of our project.
Participation in these events marked an important step in expanding COCPIT’s visibility and strengthening its commitment to promoting sustainable and climate-neutral solutions.
